New European Framework Agreement focused on Sage ERP X3 and mid-market companies

Thursday 12 January 2012 – The Sage Group plc and BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions have signed a European Framework Agreement which will support Sage’s business development by offering flexible financing solutions to customers of its operating companies (OpCos) and resellers. The agreement will be focused on Sage ERP X3 primarily, Sage’s global ERP solution for the mid-market. BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions will collaborate with Sage across the entire Sage ERP X3 ecosystem by offering rental solutions covering the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) i.e. not only software, but also associated services and the acquisition of hardware if relevant.

This financing solution enables medium –sized companies to preserve their cash flow while still making crucial investments and capital purchases, helping them improve business performance. It will also enable companies to start their contracts only when the software is set up and operational. Companies will be able to adjust their contract throughout its life in order to benefit from Sage ERP X3 upgrades, or the addition of new services or hardware.

BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions has already signed local financing agreements with Sage in four countries (France, Italy, Portugal and Spain). The cooperation in these countries is very promising and around 50 financing contracts have already been signed.

Logica to manage the project implementation


8 December 2011 – Socotec Group, a world leader in inspection, technical assistance, consulting and training services for the construction, real estate, industry and health sectors, has chosen Sage ERP X3 to be deployed across offices in the 30 countries where the group operates. Logica will manage the implementation of the new information system which will be built on Sage ERP X3 V6 and affect 3,000 workstations across Socotec offices in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The new system will control all the company’s business functions, including accounting and finance, customer contract and project management, service operations planning, purchasing management and decision analysis.

An international integrated management solution geared towards local requirements
Socotec is re-engineering its information system in bid to create an integrated solution capable of providing end-to-end business management functionality. The new system will replace homogeneously the many legacy applications operated by the company. It will also help drive the company’s growth internationally by offering the flexibility to address the specific accounting, legal, or fiscal constraints of the countries in which the group operates.

An ERP system helps to define best practices, optimise activities and gain control over processes, says Keith Fenner, Vice-President of Sales at Softline Accpac, part of the Sage Group. “The most significant benefit of ERP software is its ability to streamline operations. The Sage ERP X3 implementation will require quite extensive internal up-skilling to familiarise the Deloitte team with the ERP solution. “The overriding advantage is that Deloitte's is familiar with ERP and its role in the business. They simply need an overview of the specific functionalities of Sage ERP X3 and guidance in terms of customisation and implementation until they are comfortable with the product. The project is set to be up and running by the end of January 2012, with Sage ERP X3 being rolled out into the African mining industry quite extensively,” says Fenner.

Deloitte's existing footprint in Africa provides a strong base in terms of focusing on the mid-market and the mining sector in particular, explains Botes. “We specialise in running the back-office of an enterprise utilising Business Process Solutions (BPS) by means of outsourcing or co-sourcing methods, which allows the client to focus on their core business. The new ERP system will also greatly alleviate our ability to stagger and structure costs to efficiently suit the pocket of the mid-market,” says Botes.

Deloitte is planning to roll out the Sage ERP X3 project into Africa first, with its sights also set on other geographies in the near future, utilising Softline Accpac as its Sage ERP X3 service provider. Sage ERP X3's existing global footprint will ultimately allow Deloitte to tap into the established infrastructure that the solution offers in terms of country-specific customisation.

July 19, 2011 – The Sage Group plc (LSE: SGE), a leading business management software provider, has announced a major new release of Sage ERP X3’s warehouse management system (WMS) – Sage Geode.  Sage ERP X3 is a leading ERP solution for the midmarket and this new release brings greater warehouse and logistics optimization to all companies with distribution and logistics services requirements.

Sage Geode Version 6.1 provides the tools to process, streamline and optimize the management of the warehouse, enhancing the quality and reliability of logistics flows, providing transaction traceability, maximizing warehouse floor space and improving productivity.  As a module of Sage’s global ERP solution, the warehouse management system can be deployed across multiple sites using Sage ERP X3.

As well as many other logistical features such as transparent transaction tracking both inside and outside the warehouse, people movement and space optimization, key new enhancements of Sage Geode v6.1 include:

  • Directive Radio Frequency (RF) and resource management: system tasks are directed to RF terminals based on the location of the user and the type of equipment being used.  This provides resource management functionality to help improve productivity within the warehouse
  • Material management: stock can now be managed in both consumer units and stock units.  This improvement ensures accurate warehouse management of raw materials
  • Integration: new connectors have been introduced for seamless integration between Sage Geode and Sage ERP X3

Sage Geode v6.1 is available from July 2011 and follows the recent announcement of Sage ERP X3 Version 6.2 in May which delivered hundreds of module improvements.
